It's baaaaaack...

'Mr. Weiner called the decision to close off the crown "a partial victory for the terrorists."'

I call it a complete victory for terrorists. It's embarassing for the city, and for the country.

Who ever invented vertical blinds should be beaten to a bloody pulp.

barnesAug 03, 2004 at 12:34PM

If the person who invented vertical blinds is beaten to a bloody pulp, that means the terrorists have won.

The very fact that this involves the statue of liberty speaks volumes. Notice how officials are trying to "persuade" public opinion to the effect that the freedom to explore the monument to freedom, is a freedom nobody should really want?

I finally tracked the bastard down: Lester S. Simon of Larchmont, New York. He filed patent no. 1,841,065 on January 12, 1932 for an "Adjustable Light and Ventilating Screen" - otherwise known as: the vertical blind. Grrr.

Every damn office I've ever worked in has these godforsaken things in them. Mr. Simon should rot in hell.

I'm going to ask an obvious question here...what do vertical blinds have to do with the reopening of the Statue of Liberty?

ShmuelAug 03, 2004 at 8:36PM

Sheesh Jason, you're so out of it! Where have you been?!? Vertical blinds man, vertical blinds. Just think about it for a minute.

They break so easily, too.

There are some in the administration blinded by the effects of their decision to close, even partially, the statute.

Alas, hope is on the way, on the vertical horizon.

People might say that the terrorists have won when freedoms are restricted in so called free countries. But Im not so sure that what they are after
